Position Specific Description

Summer College IT Intern: Cyber Security: NERC-CIP Compliance

In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience through stimulating security projects and learn from industry experts in an advanced threat protection landscape. You will join a top-notch team focused on compliance and protection of critical systems of the virtual world. The Nextera Cyber group is looking for cyber warriors to join us as we revolutionize cyber security compliance and raise the bar on building sustainable processes, automation and monitoring that will give us confidence in a virtual world of villains.

As a Cyber Security Intern, you'll build defenses to protect us from cyber criminals as you train with our team of elite security professionals. You’ll learn how to navigate evolving external requirements and adapt compliance processes and monitoring to interact with emerging automation and increasing demands of incident response and remediation utilizing the most sophisticated security technologies available in the world.

What you’ll do

•Create and refine compliance related processes to sustain changing environment and landscape

•Work cross-functionally with subject matter experts across the NextEra enterprise to understand potential threats and violations and how to mitigate them

•Prioritize mitigation and enhancement activities based on risk approach methodology

•Leverage our proprietary systems and IT system experts to develop and publish assessment reports

•Track and refine quantitative metrics to monitor compliance health and opportunities for improvement

•Develop comprehensive and accurate presentations for both technical and executive audiences

•Triage CIP specific operational access management and other related issues


What we’re looking for

•Passion for security, learning, and knowledge sharing

•Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in IT, Computer Science or Cyber Security

•Knowledge of NERC-CIP compliance

•Basic knowledge of risk management frameworks, techniques, and procedures


Job Overview

Employees in the role will be provided mentoring and practical hands on experience for relevant career-related activities encountered in the student’s area of study or specialization. To be considered for this position the applicant must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. Candidate must also have a current GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

•   Assists department with assigned projects
•   Completes challenging projects and assignments
•   Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
