Position Specific Description

This position will be located at the Lejeune Flagler Office in Miami, Florida.  Experience with control system software at an electric utility highly preferred.    

Job Overview

Leaders in this role manage a functional team within the Grid Control Systems Applications organization that is responsible for the maintenance and support of applications related to grid monitoring & control systems. Applications include the Energy Management System (EMS), Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Demand Side Management (DSM) systems in support of Transmission & Substation. Individuals are responsible for the associated application interfaces that serve as an input to or output from the System Control Center (SCC).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•  Manages a functional team within the Grid Control Systems Applications organization and prioritize planning, operational, and maintenance activities of the applications associated with the grid monitoring and control systems
•  Manages activities to ensure reliable performance of applications associated with grid monitoring and control systems
•  Coordinates and manage activities to meet or exceed operational targets related to grid monitoring and control systems applications
•  Supports and execute the requirements of FRCC Reliability Coordinator Operations per FPL/FRCC Agent Agreement related to the FPL SCC (e.g. provisions for maintenance and support of grid monitoring and control applications for the Reliability Coordinators)
•  Ensures compliance to the NERC Reliability Standards related to grid monitoring and control systems with special emphasis to standards related to the availability and integrity of real-time reliability analysis tools (IRO/TOP/BAL/EOP Standards)
•  Ensures compliance to the FERC Standards of Conduct and FERC orders related to the maintenance and support of grid monitoring and control applications
•  Leads Operational Excellence goals and initiatives
•  Employee development and management
•  Establishes and maintains a process driven functional team
•  Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
•  Ability to work extended hours
•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's - Engineering
  • Experience: 8+ years
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 3+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Master Black Belt
