Position Specific Description

Background

Over a hundred applications support various mission critical business processes across NextEra Energy. A mature process and cadence have been established to test the disaster recovery capability of these applications to a remote location in response to a storm (or physically impacting) event. Disaster recovery test plans have been developed, tested, and are refined annually. In responding to a cyber-type event, the application recovery processes are different, and require similar level of engagement across the company. The application testing strategy and cyber-related recovery processes need to be refined and matured for business resiliency. 

 

Job Description:

This position provides direct support to the IT Resiliency program and associated services working cross functionally on a range of functions focusing on enhancing our capabilities to be better prepared for a cyber related disruption, planned or unplanned– and minimize impact. 

 

The role bridges the use of technology and business processes to develop, integrate or improve practices associated with disaster recovery, business continuity and cyber resiliency.  Considering a matrix-type working environment, the individual must possess the following: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • High-level process and/or project management
  • Excellent commercial skills including analytical problem solving, business acumen, ability to innovate, quality focus, and strategic thinking

 

The position is part of the core team participating in the overall development, planning, and coordination of new and existing aspects of NextEra Energy’s cyber resiliency program.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Support the IT resiliency program application recovery strategy, test plan and schedule.
  • Collaborate across various IT disciplines, with a heavy focus on application support, compute, storage, and data services.
  • Support a consistent cadence to execute cyber-related application recovery test plans.
  • Establish or enhance application recovery metrics using six-sigma quality tools and strategies. 
  • Support the development and review of reusable application recovery playbooks for a cyberrelated event leveraging existing Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity processes, run books and checklists while including the distinctions needed for cyber resiliency.
  • Standardize recovery playbooks, with a prioritization on application supporting mission critical business processes
  • Support the implementation of technology to digitize documents, design streamlined workflows; leverage investments and system capabilities to advance cyber resiliency.
  • Ensure change management processes and procedures are followed.

  • Builds strong working understanding of the technical solution being delivered and analyzes and determines failure points in the solution
  • Contributes to the application testing process (directly or to support end users)
  • Creates and updates documentation, as appropriate, for selected project framework
  • Maintains a familiarity with market trends in technology
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 2+ years
