Position Specific Description

Smile you’ve found us! At NextEra Energy, our people are our biggest asset and our Information Technology organization is seeking a transformational leader for our IT Infrastructure Technical Services Group Manager position.


This role is responsible for managing, evaluating, and monitoring a unique IT organization that provides  day-to-day 24x7 operational desk side (LAN) and network (WAN) support for all utility sites throughout the state of Florida as well as the NextEra Energy Resources (NEER) sites throughout the U.S., Spain and Canada.  The organization also provides a significant amount of project deployment resource support for various IT and Business Unit integrations, as well as voice and data integration for construction activities. Organization plays a critical support role for all emergency related events (primarily Hurricane response), all PSC related activities as well as Executive support in our main campus locations as well as Tallahassee and Washington, DC.  The position leads an organization of 60-65 exempt employees and contractors dispersed geographically throughout the state.  Has fiscal responsibility for five million dollars of O&M and approximately one million dollars of Capital. This role will also be responsible for helping drive transformation and re-imagine the current process in order to make more efficient.

  • Experience meeting with and effectively communicating with various levels of leadership
  • Strong and proven people and motivational skills;  teamwork a must
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Requires very limited guidance or oversight from higher level management
  • Able to work under high degree of pressure, expectations and aggressive schedules
  • Extensive time and travel required typically within the state of Florida

Job Overview

This position oversees and provides technical guidance for planning, directing , and monitoring information systems infrastructure (e.g. physical network, hardware and centralized help desk ). Employees in this role plan and recommend modifications to equipment and/or to system capacity. Successful candidates manage professional employees and/or managers and are accountable for the performance and results of one or more related disciplines.
