Position Specific Description

We are seeking someone who is excited to work in a challenging fast-paced working environment where they can use their skills to solve complex business problems with data and analytics. The Customer Service Data Engineer should possess a deep sense of curiosity and a passion for leveraging data that will drive the business. In addition, looks for ways to answer business questions via hands-on exploration of data sets via SQL, dashboards, ETL and automation tools, and data visualizations.

 

 

  • Designs and implements data pipelines, extract-transform-load (ETL) processes, and data cleansing practices to ensure quality data transfer and sharing 
  • Work on ways to automate and improve current business processes.
  • Providing input during application design and development for complex and critical projects.
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Identify, design, document, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing data feeds, etc.
  • Design, develop and implement ETL solutions for ingesting, cleansing, business rules execution and pushing customer data
  • Create and maintain ETL Pipelines from various internal and external data sources to our data lake, data warehouse and raw analytics environments using SQL and big data technologies.
  • Participate in end-to-end delivery of technical projects involving design and development of data pipelines involving complex datasets.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data on source and target systems, identify the gaps, and provide solutions.
  • Proactively provide feedback and process improvement recommendations to the team and management.
  • Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building moving our business towards more data driven decisions.
  • Develop API solutions.
  • Reporting and data visualization.
     

Job Overview

Employees in this position define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software to help the business unit improve reliability, and drive efficiencies. This position works individually, and as part of a team using best practices in software development methodologies. Employees collaborate with other areas to understand requirements and drive continuous improvement of Smart Grid software applications.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports daily system operations within a specify discipline on a continual basis
  • Writes, translates, and codes software programs and applications consistently to specifications and development standards per specific discipline
  • Writes programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary
  • Assists in defining software development project plans, including scopes, schedules, and implementation
  • Liaises with network administrators, systems analysts, database administrators, external vendors, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems
  • Develops an understanding of relevant system administration tasks including backup/recovery of systems and disaster recovery
  • Designs, runs and monitors software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging
  • Conducts research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement, development and maintenance efforts
  • Meets attendance and storm duty requirements and has the ability to work extended hours
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 4+ years

  • Master’s Degree
  • Six Sigma Master Black Belt
  • Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt
