Position Specific Description
General Duties and Responsibilities:
The Plant Operator will have responsibility for operating and maintenance activities at Ocean County Landfill which have been assigned. The Plant Operator will ensure that the following four priorities identified above are observed at all times at the Comanche facility:
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Plant Operations
- Conduct activities related to the starting, stopping, and adjustment of operation of all plant equipment.
- Operate all plant equipment in accordance with all plant permits and environmental policies. This requires an in-depth understanding of the permits, plans, and policies in effect.
- Conduct all work in a safe manner, observing all safety regulations and NexteraEnergy safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure there is a complete, effective hand-off of pre-existing plant operations from the prior board shift operator before assuming role as the on-shift board operator. Review daily operating reports and other records to ensure specified operating characteristics in control of plant operations are maintained or improved upon.
- Conduct periodic on-site, outside the Control Room inspection, monitoring and recordkeeping activities during each workshift in accordance with operating procedures, relevant permits and spill plans. Record records of findings in electronic format and/or in a handwritten logbook.
- Operate and maintain equipment through adjustments to pressure, temperature and/or flow settings in order to maximize plant output. Be aware of proper and normal operating conditions, check operational data such as fluid levels, temperatures and pressures, compare to historical trends, and have the ability to make corrections as needed.
- Promptly recognize variances in plant readings and detect and correct faulty and malfunctioning mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components, devices and equipment associated with plant operations. Diagnose, investigate, troubleshoot and repair problems with the aid of computers, process instrumentation, and/or manual control valves.
- Recognize and promptly report to the Plant Manager any and all deviations from normal operating status which may have the potential to be a non-compliance event.
- Perform basic routine maintenance on rotating equipment, pumps, and other equipment, and maintain a safe work environment through effective housekeeping within and outside the Control Room.
- Work cooperatively at all times with other Plant Operators, Wellfield personnel, and NexteraEnergy management to ensure the safe, efficient operation of the facility.
- Promptly take appropriate actions to adjust or restore operation as needed which occur as the result of equipment malfunction, fuel supply interruption, insufficient fuel quality in inlet landfill gas or outlet sales gas, or power outages. Notify Operations Coordinator or Plant Manager of sustained shutdowns caused by the foregoing.
- Work with Plant Manager to help manage onsite inventory to ensure that adequate materials, supplies, spare parts, tooling, etc. are either onsite or are promptly available.
- Adjust, regulate and control the thermal oxidizer and candlestick flares operations.
- Maintain through NexteraEnergy provided training the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, OSHA Safety Training, Fire Extinguishers, Hazardous Materials.
- Perform other activities and duties as directed by the Plant Manager or other management personnel.
- Maintenance
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance activities as assigned in accordance with manufacturer’s operation and maintenance guides and/or NexteraEnergy procedures.
- Participate in routine and major maintenance activities as assigned, particularly during annual outages.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records in the logbook of equipment maintenance and repair, installation of new parts, filling of vessels or reservoirs, etc., including date and time of work and a detailed description of the work performed
- Recognize, analyze and diagnose equipment issues in conjunction with other NexteraEnergy personnel and/or outside contractors/service providers.
- Regularly participate in facility cleaning and housekeeping work, maintaining all aspects of the assigned facility in a safe and presentable condition. This includes the interior of the facility (office areas, storage areas, MCC rooms, and restrooms) and the exterior of the facility (H2S systems, Oberlin Filter Press area, compressor skids, PSA and TSA areas, parking areas, etc.).

Job Overview
This job is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the pipeline and gathering systems on a day to day basis. Employees in this role ensure that regular operational and maintenance activities are carried out on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, including the capture of gas samples, maintenance of gas metering equipment, and launching and retrieving pipeline rigs.

Required Qualifications
• Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
• High School Grad / GED
• Experience:3+ years
