Position Specific Description
Join our dynamic team as a Safety & Health Professional supporting NextEra Energy's Wind Operations in the West Hub. In this role you'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding our workforce across the hub’s wind fleet. You work closely with PGD safety to strengthen our safety management systems.
What You'll Do: In this fast-paced role, you'll strategically deploy safety resources and champion our safety culture with considerable autonomy. You'll drive compliance initiatives, conduct field assessments, improve job packages and safety plans, support tactical teams, deliver impactful presentations, and leverage data analytics to be proactive and continuously improve our safety processes and procedures. Building strong partnerships with external regulatory agencies and internal operational teams will be essential to your success. Your expertise will guide key strategic initiatives as you lead our teams and provide technical guidance on critical procedures. You'll mentor colleagues through safety coaching and training while conducting thorough root cause analyses (RCAs) to recommend actionable improvements that strengthen our safety management systems.
What We're Looking For: We're seeking a candidate with demonstrated experience in electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, or comparable industrial environments. Your deep understanding of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910.269, 1926), ANSI, NFPA, and NESC standards will be invaluable.
The ideal candidate brings proven leadership in safety program development, training delivery, and investigations. You're an effective communicator who can engage diverse audiences—from frontline workers to executive leadership—both in-person and virtually. Your technical writing skills complement your proficiency with Microsoft Office and other digital platforms.
We value self-starters who can influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders while identifying field hazards and providing practical mitigation strategies. Industrial hygiene experience is a welcome plus.
Travel & Qualifications: This role involves up to 75% travel to PGD Wind sites across the U.S. and Canada, perfect for those who enjoy variety in their work environment.
We require a bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Safety and/or Occupational Health preferred) plus 4+ years in the energy/utility sector, OR a minimum of 8 years of experience (preferably a minimum of 5 years of safety experience plus 3 years other applicable experience). Master’s degree, CSP and/or CIH certifications are highly valued.
Job Overview
Lead and support safety programs across the hub’s wind generation sites by driving regulatory compliance, conducting field assessments, investigating incidents, and fostering a strong safety culture. Partner with PGD Safety, operational teams and regulatory agencies to identify risks, implement safety improvements, and provide technical leadership, training, and coaching across the organization.

The estimated base pay for this position is $94,400.00 to $141,600.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
