Position Specific Description

This position is for a Staff Engineer in the Power Delivery  Design group to focus on Communications Systems such as EMS, SCADA, metering, RTUs and Substation Communications including MPLS, Fiber, Cellular and Radio.

 

Consults extensively with engineers and makes decisions and recommendations having significant impact on engineering and related activities of company.  At this level, individuals demonstrate creativity, innovation, foresight and mature engineering judgment as they anticipate and solve unprecedented engineering problems, determine program objectives and requirements, and develop standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities.  Leads extensive analysis to evaluate and set long term strategy and recommendations for the corporation.  Selects research problems to further the company's objectives.   Conceives and plans investigations of areas
of importance for which engineering precedents are currently lacking.  Contributes new designs or techniques that are regarded as major advances in the field.  Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers from other companies, suppliers and industry associations to influence the direction of the industry in their area of expertise.

 

Preference is for an individual  who is a recognized authority in their field both within the company and the industry and is the highest level on the engineering ladder reached by only a few of an organization's engineers.  Highly motivated, self starter that drives organization towards continuous improvement

 

To be considered you will need a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or any other related field of study  and 8+ years experience preferably in a combination of the following areas:Transmission & Substation

•   Provides engineering, design and environmental support
•   Tracks and reports on project negotiations and performance
•   Delivers company standards, policies, training, and support of organization
•   Prepares communications, presentations and provides support at meetings
•   Formulates researches, and develops improvement measures
•   Works with other departments within the organization to establish customer requirements and project costs
•   Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
•   Ability to work extended hours
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


•  Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's - Engineering
•  Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
•  Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
•  Experience:8+ years

Preferred Qualifications


•  Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
•  Master's Degree
•  Six Sigma Master Black Belt
