Position Specific Description

We are seeking a technically strong and strategic Sr. Manager of Integrated Systems Planning to lead long-term transmission and resource planning, including system development and integrated planning efforts. This role centers on advanced modeling and analysis using tools such as PSSE, PLEXOS, and Aurora to support power flow studies, capacity expansion, production cost modeling, resource adequacy, and load forecasting. In addition to deep technical and analytical responsibilities, the role is also public-facing, requiring strong communication skills to engage effectively with regulators and public service commissions. A background in engineering, economics, or a related field is preferred, along with demonstrated leadership experience guiding high-performing technical teams.

Job Overview

This job is responsible for directing and managing the distribution planning efforts for the FPL area and provides expansion plans for the FPL distribution system and FPL’s customers. Leaders in this role are responsibilities also include formulating and implementing value-add and transformative strategic initiatives to achieve and sustain successful planning results in a compliant, cost effective, flexible distribution system that can be operated to provide a very reliable energy supply to FPL’s customers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews distribution expansion analyses and provides results to management for distribution system improvements, modifications and/or expansions
  • Communicates with customers to identify their needs and requirements and develops solutions and share solutions findings based on technical evaluations of distribution designs and specifications
  • Provides technical support for reliability and quality issues related to distribution system
  • Formulates strategies related to emerging technology initiatives related to distribution system
  • Develops programs for the integration of distributed energy resources into FPL’s grid and analyzes impact to current grid management and operations processes
  • Provides support for site permitting, licensing, certification and rate case proceedings for FPL, including participating on conference calls, meetings, preparing testimony, responding to interrogatories
  • Directs and manages the integration of distributed energy resources (DER’s) and related technologies into FPL’s distribution grid
  • Directs the scheduling of multiple projects to support Power Delivery initiatives related to Smart Grid
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's – Engineering
  • Experience: 9+ years
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's – Engineering
  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
