Position Specific Description

This Senior Engineer will support eight nuclear reactors at five plant sites around the country and be based out of our Jupiter West corporate office.  In this role, you will be responsible for overall program responsibilities for the heat exchanger (HX) and Generic Letter 89-13 (Raw Water) programs.  Primary responsibilities will be to provide standardized implementation of the Heat Exchanger/Raw Water programs across all fleet sites.  

 

You will need to have extensive working level knowledge of the following industry level documents:

  • NRC Generic Letter 89-13 - ”Service Water System Problems affecting Safety Related Equipment (and its supplements)”
  • Heat Exchanger Institute (HEI) and Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association (TEMA) codes and standards
  • INPO EPG-04 – “Engineering Program Guide – Service Water Reliability”
  • INPO EPG-14 –“Balance of Plant Heat Exchanger Program”
  • EPRI NP-7552 “Heat Exchanger Performance Monitoring Guidelines”
  • EPRI 1022980 “Guidance for an Effective Heat Exchanger Program” 

 

Position Specific Duties:

  • Performs thermal performance analysis of HX and the oversight of technicians performing data collection
  • Resolution of component and system operability issues
  • Leading and assisting in and troubleshooting efforts and root cause teams
  • Reviewing preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Analyzing performance data as it may relate to potential component maintenance and failures. 
  • Maintain program documents in accordance with all applicable regulatory, industry requirements and best practices, including required periodic updates.
  • Develop required regulatory submittals
  • Participate in industry groups related to HX/GL 89-13 programs.
  • Develop scope of inspections required by the HX/GL 89-13 for outages and maintain five-year for non-recurring major inspections.
  • Develop budget estimates as necessary
  • Provide lead for regulatory and other industry interfaces (e.g., NRC, NEI, INPO) and develop self-assessments in preparation for inspections
  • Make presentations to site Plant Health Committees (PHCs)
  • Perform periodic program self-assessments
  • Support outage readiness assessments
  • Support plant during outages with assignments to site during outages.  When not assigned to the site, support may be required remotely
  • Perform contingency planning for inspection activities
  • Work closely with ECT Level III to identify/standardize  required inspections and inspection techniques
  • Establish Fleet level PM frequencies for HX/GL 89-13 programs in coordination with the Value Based Maintenance initiative.   

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of seven (7+) years of engineering or related experience, with four of those years being in the nuclear industry. 
  • General knowledge of condenser and HX Maintenance, cleaning and inspection processes
  • Established knowledge of Condensers and HX Design and materials
  • GL89-13 and service water system knowledge
  • Experience in thermal performance analysis of HX
  • ProtoHX experience

This job is responsible for performing engineering activities that support projects and operations across the nuclear business. Employees in this role apply broad nuclear plant engineering experience and principles to make decisions and recommendations. Individuals work with independence and have wide latitude to exercise judgment over technical solution development.

•   Leads discussions in a group setting to resolve problems or coordinate design production
•   Applies nuclear industry standards and regulations to solve new problems and address situations
•   Serves as technical liaison within the nuclear business unit
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's - Engineering
•  Experience:7+ years

Preferred Qualifications


•  Master's - Engineering
•  Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
