Position Specific Description
Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) seeks a senior level environmental professional that is motivated, self-directed and results-driven. This position is within the Corporate Environmental Services department and directly supports FPL’s Power Delivery business unit. The selected candidate will support due diligence and permitting for planned projects designed and constructed by Power Delivery’s Engineering & Technical Services and Central Maintenance & Construction departments. Applicants must have relevant experience to provide subject matter and technical expertise and personal ownership of assigned tasks. Applicants must have ability to provide proficient environmental due diligence and environmental permitting support for Power Delivery’s transmission, substation and distribution jobs. Primary responsibilities include supporting permitting strategy while assisting with obtaining required federal, state, and local environmental licenses, permits and approvals. Other project support such as siting, field assessments, and community outreach may also be required. This position also provides environmental technical support for Power Delivery operations and construction. The successful candidate must maintain current knowledge of pertinent federal and state level environmental policies and regulations, have the ability to effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders (including regulatory agencies), and subject matter experts. He or she must be strong in resolving environmental matters that lead to ensuring compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations, as well as company policies. The selected candidate needs excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, technical, analytical, and communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to work long hours in the event of a storm, and exhibit behaviors consistent with FPL’s corporate values. Employees in this job are responsible for providing expert environmental support for new and existing facilities including due diligence, permitting, regulatory compliance, regulatory interpretation and development, and interface with Federal, State, and Regional agencies.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Supports the company's compliance with environmental requirements
• Performs comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews
• Assists with facility compliance audits
• Conducts environmental licensing and permitting activities
• Supports environmental aspects of company operations, such as, compliance, reporting, monitoring, remediation, and environmental permitting functions
• Monitors and analyzes environmental policies and regulations that affect the company and its customers
• Provides the necessary support to staff to resolve environmental matters
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
