Position Specific Description

Florida Power & Light has an immediate need for an experienced Environmental Specialist who will work closely with Power Delivery’s Engineering & Technical Services and Central Maintenance & Construction organizations.
 
Primary accountabilities include managing permit construction compliance tasks, troubleshooting and developing strategies for environmental non-compliance issues, conducting operational audits, conducting environmental trainings, and ensuring operational compliance tasks are completed.  The applicant must be able to understand and interpret environmental permits and their compliance requirements. The applicant must have ability to support multiple projects with multifaceted environmental and regulatory issues.  The successful candidate must maintain current knowledge of pertinent federal and state level environmental policies and regulations, have the ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers (including regulatory agencies), subject matter experts, and other stakeholders.  He or she must be able to assist in resolving complex environmental matters, help ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations, as well as company policies. The ideal candidate will have some background with construction site environmental compliance oversight, including knowledge of stormwater erosion control measures and best management practices, along with experience in contaminated media spill event reporting and cleanup.  The applicant should expect to drive continuous improvement throughout all areas of accountability.  The successful candidate must be able to work long hours in the event of a storm, and exhibit behaviors consistent with our corporate values.  Occasional travel within Florida may be required.
 

Job Overview

Employees in this job are responsible for providing expert environmental support for new and existing facilities including due diligence, permitting, regulatory compliance, regulatory interpretation and development, and interface with Federal, State, and Regional agencies.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Supports the company's compliance with environmental requirements
•   Performs comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews
•   Assists with facility compliance audits
•   Conducts environmental licensing and permitting activities
•   Supports environmental aspects of company operations, such as, compliance, reporting, monitoring, remediation, and environmental permitting functions
•   Monitors and analyzes environmental policies and regulations that affect the company and its customers
•   Provides the necessary support to staff to resolve environmental matters
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience: 4+ years
