Position Specific Description

This position assesses, designs, develops, integrates, and troubleshoots cloud applications to support business processes. This role will involve developing new cloud applications as will as integrating and enhancing existing cloud applications with a focus on large scale data visualization and analysis.


Cloud Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design and build software on the cloud leveraging containerization and modular architecture strategies.
  • 4 Years + hands on cloud experience
  • Test our system integrity, implemented designs, application developments and other processes related to infrastructure, making improvements as needed.
  • Automate operational processes as needed, with accuracy and in compliance with our security requirements.
  • Specifying, documenting, and developing new product features, and writing automating scripts.
  • Manage code deployments, fixes, updates, and related processes.
  • Migrate parts of on-premise applications to AWS when appropriate.
  • Work with CI and CD tools, and source control such as GIT.
  • Deploy and maintain critical applications on cloud-native microservices architecture
  • Implement automation, effective monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments
  • Work with Data Scientists to deploy machine learning algorithms in AWS

 

Cloud Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or a relevant field.
  • Strong experience with AWS and Linux-based infrastructures.
  • Strong experience with databases such as SQL, PostGreSQL, Oracle, DynamoDB, RDS, MongoDB
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, and Python
  • Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services: EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda Etc...
  • Use Scripting tools to automate software process migrations.
  • Experience with application/data migration to AWS
  • Experience in creating automated build and deployment process
  • Develop and deploy scalable and fault tolerant systems on AWS.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain protocol and processes with team and management.
  • More than two years of experience in a Cloud Engineer role (or similar role); experience in software development and infrastructure development.
  • Stellar troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems.
  • Current with industry trends, IT ops and industry best practices, and able to identify the ones we should implement.
  • Practical experience with Docker containerization and clustering (Kubernetes/ECS)
  • Expertise with AWS (e.g. IAM, EC2, VPC, ELB, ALB, Autoscaling, Lambda)
  • Version control system experience (e.g. Git)
  • Experience implementing CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo)
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Chef)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Cloudformation)

Job Overview

This position is responsible for managing, monitoring and deploying a highly available, highly scalable production application. The individual will be responsible for one or more environments and/or systems and interface directly with the Development and Operations team on a daily basis for the maintenance, expansion, and documentation of these environments, providing assistance and review of proposed architectures, as needed. This role is responsible for vetting emerging technologies and guides the direction of the teams that support software development.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drives the automation and continuous improvement of the software delivery process
  • Manages the continuous integration services maintenance and configuration, ensuring the build environment is meeting the needs of the software developers
  • Leads the maintenance and creation of automatic deployment of software builds to the test and production environments, enabling the operations team to easily and consistently deploy new software products
  • Monitors system development and maintenance and ensures that staff at all technical levels are informed of the health of our systems
  • Evaluates Operation teams processes and automates repetitive and temporary solutions
  • Improves the product environment and practices used by the software developers
  • Sets up back-up mechanisms for production environments and test disaster recovery mechanisms
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
