Position Specific Description

Location:  Office location will be based out of one of the following locations depending on the candidate selected.  Austin, Texas; Dallas, Texas; Jupiter, Florida; Juno Beach, Florida or Miami, Florida

 

In this role, your primary duties will be technical analysis, oversight and on-going support for NextEra Energy Transmission operating companies to identify and meet state, federal and independent system operator compliance obligations.  This position will have an emphasis on applicable NERC cyber security requirements for bulk electric system cyber systems and assets, including control centers.   It may include additional tasks as listed in the duties and responsibilities section. Specifically, in close coordination with operating company operations, the NextEra enterprise information technology, system control operations and business management teams, the duties will include critical infrastructure systems compliance-related technical and non-technical tasks/activities. including, but not limited to, NEET operating companies’ physical and electronic (cyber) security NERC standard requirements and other non-NERC compliance related obligations.

This position is responsible for assisting in the technical analysis, support, management and coordination of compliance activities related to NERC CIP standards and compliance obligations of assigned NEET business units.  The professional in this role shall become proficient in performing diversified and confidential duties that require basic experience, skills and knowledge of NERC CIP regulations, NextEra organizational policies and operational processes. The position will provide interpretive guidance, data analysis, reporting, and coordination to assist subject matter experts in the development of policies, work instructions, evidence, and business unit preventive and detective controls designed to monitor, identify and mitigate non-conformances, in order to maintain a culture of compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years in cyber-security compliance, information technology architecture, or utility compliance
  • Proficient use of Sharepoint and Teams, and Microsoft business products with strong skills in PowerPoint and Excel and advanced experience formatting policy documents in Word.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • 3+ years building and executing a NERC CIP compliance program
  • Information Technology and/or Energy Management System architecture experience
  • Lead role experience with a NERC regional entity or a regional transmission organization
  • Maximo and Visio experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

Job Overview

This position is responsible for assisting in the management and coordination of compliance and training programs within a business unit (BU). Personnel in this role perform diversified and confidential duties requiring basic experience, skills and knowledge of regulations, organizational policies and operational processes.  Employees provide interpretive guidance and training and assist in development of policies, procedures, and business unit controls designed to monitor, identify and mitigate non-conformances, in order to maintain a culture of compliance.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers compliance and operational training and administers the Learning Management System (LMS) for business unit (BU) assignments and tracking of required training
  • Performs operational and training audits and assessments, including analysis, management reporting and development of mitigation and remediation activities and related communications
  • Develops, maintains and oversees Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, policies, procedures, and forms
  • Coordinates and retains compliance plan documents based on knowledge of regulatory rules and requirements, NextEra policies, and BU compliance activities
  • Performs system reporting and manages segregation of duties and system access control approvals for BU job roles
  • Investigates and reports compliance matters to management, analyzes issues, identifies opportunities, and oversees timely resolution and mitigation control
  • Oversees records retention compliance, including the management of secure file rooms, electronic files, compliance and training documentation, as well as oversight of annual archive purge requirements
  • Develops communications related to compliance training and operational processes
  • Supports inquiries including audits, legal and regulatory proceedings, government reporting and certification processes, third-party requests and industry benchmarking
  • Oversees and coordinates of Nuclear Corrective Action Program, where applicable
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 7+ years
