Position Specific Description

We are seeking an engineer to join our team at the Jupiter West Corporate office.  In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in support of Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) and Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) nuclear plants, specifically in the areas of fuel reliability, fuel mechanical design, fuel fabrication oversight, and project management.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the nuclear fleet’s fuel reliability program
  • Evaluate fuel mechanical design and manufacturing process changes
  • Performs oversight of the fuel vendor’s fuel fabrication
  • Manage nuclear fuel fabrication contracts and serve as lead fuel vendor interface
  • Serve as technical consultant to management on fuel reliability, fuel mechanical design, and fuel fabrication oversight
  • Develop and enhance automation tools to standardize processes and reduce errors
  • Execute advanced engineering projects requiring original concepts and minimal precedence

 The selected candidate will have:

  • Ability to work independently on complex engineering tasks requiring original problem-solving
  • Proficiency in fuel reliability, fuel mechanical designs and fuel fabrication oversight
  • Strong project management skills and experience

Additionally, it is highly desired that the candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Familiarity with Python or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills with advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Strong understanding of NRC regulations

Job Overview

This job supports the project and operational work of senior engineers. Employees in this role perform fundamental engineering tasks that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Individuals participate in the engineering analysis and evaluation process and test solutions to solve problems.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs fundamental engineering activities that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Participates in the analysis and evaluation of engineering problems
  • Prepares design change and technical evaluation research for review  
  • Develops test activity to evaluate recommended solutions and analyzes data for result inconsistencies
  • Coordinates Engineering activities with other Engineering departments and with other company departments
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
