Position Specific Description

 

This position will be located at our Jupiter West Corporate office with occasional travels to the Plant sites. Opportunities are available for Associate Engineers in Nuclear Fleet Design Engineering in Electrical, Instrumentation, & Controls, including Nuclear Instrumentation. Experience with ladder logic, analogue/digital systems, power systems analysis as well as computational tools, such as ETAP, AutoCAD or SOLIDWORKS) is preferred but not required. Prior project management experience is also preferred but not required.

 

Engineers in this role provide technical interface with engineering firms on project developments, prepare and review engineering documents and perform simple calculations using industry and regulatory standards, techniques, and procedures requiring strict adherence to set criteria.

 

Discipline Specific skill-based responsibilities:

  • Performs simple electrical calculations using computer aided power systems analysis tools, such as ETAP, for powers systems analysis (such as power flows, motor starting, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies).
  • Reviews engineering design documents and perform alternative analysis using industry codes, standards, and procedures such as ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, etc., and regulatory standards applicable to Nuclear Power auxiliary power distribution system.
  • Prepares and/or update existing plant drawings for electrical and instrumentation systems. This may require use of drafting tools such as AutoCAD and other similar tools.

 

Project related duties and responsibilities:

  • Serves as the technical interface with outside engineering contractors for major engineering projects.
  • Serves as a cognizant engineer for contractor prepared engineering modifications. Provides technical reviews for such products using sound engineering principles.
  • Prepares and reviews Statement of Work (SOW) for major projects.
  • Prepares Technical Bid Evaluations for vendor services and procurement.
  • Performs Owner Acceptance Reviews of vendor deliverables in accordance with approved standards. 
  • Provides schedule updates and ensures overall deliverables are on track.
  • Coordinates stake holder reviews of engineering packages.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Individuals participate in the engineering analysis and evaluation process and test solutions to solve problems.

  • Prepares design change and technical evaluation research for review  
  • Develops test activity to evaluate recommended solutions and analyzes data for result inconsistencies
  • Coordinates Engineering activities with other Engineering departments and with other company departments
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
