Position Specific Description

Currently we are seeking a Nuclear Access/ Fitness for Duty Coordinator to join our team at our Jupiter West location in sunny South Florida! 

Job Overview

This position supports compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations regarding access for personnel to nuclear power plants. Employees in this role ensure that the company’s Unescorted Access Authorization (UAA) program authorizes Unescorted Access (UA)authorizes access to only those individuals who are trustworthy, reliable and do not pose public health and safety risks. This role provides on-going oversight to site Acess Authorization/Fitness for Duty (AA/FFD) personnel and directs daily activities of the staff, provides work direction for staff including performance, evaluation, attendance and personnel decisions and actions. Employees in this role maintain an effective FFD program by ensuring blind samples are ordered and processed as required, correct random testing rates are in accordance with regulatory requirements, NRC required single positive forms and annual reports are generated, verified and submitted to the NRC within the prescribed time frames along with assisting in conducting pre-access, random, for-cause and post-event drug and alcohol testing for compliance with NRC regulations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides interpretation of the company’s Unescorted Access Authorization and Fitness For Duty (UA/FFD) policies, programs and procedures and interface with site management
  • Provides UAA/UA unfavorable determinations to workers, provides their appeal rights and makes the appropriate regulatory reporting determination
  • Performs Reviewing Official duties and activities on-site or at other fleet sites related to implementation and maintenance of the NRC's UAA/UA and FFD programs as required by Federal Regulations
  • Oversees the monthly revalidation process and approval as required by regulation
  • Evaluates trustworthiness and reliability and considers the potential insider threat based on an accumulation of information including Potentially Disqualifying Information (PDI) and Behavior Observation Program (BOP) data
  • Determines fitness for employment at our nuclear facilities by resolving inconsistent or adverse information during one-on-one interviews with workers that may impact a worker’s career
  • Monitors daily processing activities and provides specific oversight and work direction for loaned employees and contractors assisting in the AA/FFD offices
  • Coordinates and plans support with site personnel while organizing and preparing for loaned employee, contractor and corporate staff support for scheduled refueling outages
  • Determines appropriate requirements for individuals requesting or maintaining UAA/UA
  • Decides if further evaluations for substance abuse issues are warranted and initiate appropriate screening documentation
  • Oversees the assembly and distribution of unescorted access badges and badge deactivation for individuals who no longer require access
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Associate's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 6+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree

Special Requirements

Nuclear Specific Requirements:

  • Associate's in Criminal Justice, Security, Business or Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • With Associate's degree, access, FFD, security, criminal investigation, law enforcement or related experience: 7+ years
  • In absence of degree, access, FFD, security, criminal investigation, law enforcement or related experience: 10+ years
  • Prior military training and experience may be considered as equivalent education and experience
  • Exempt level security, access, or FFD experience: 5+ years
