Position Specific Description

Regulatory Risk and Strategy Office

To support NextEra Energy’s Regulatory Risk and Strategy Office (“RRS”) through data analysis, internal reporting, and dashboard development within their compliance management system (CMS). This role serves as a point of contact for the CMS solution, overseeing regulatory change management and other workflows within the tool, and producing actionable reporting and insights on regulatory obligations and risks for executive leadership.  

 

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business, mathematics, data analytics or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in data analytics or a related field
  • 3+ years of compliance, regulatory operations, or transferable experience in the energy, utilities, or another highly regulated industry
  • Demonstrated experience with use of analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik), systems and structures
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering executive-level dashboards and reporting frameworks that translate complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership
  • Proven track record of identifying trends, anomalies and gaps through analysis of regulatory and compliance data
  • Proficient in the use of CMS and Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) applications

 

Prefered Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in related field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of energy markets, transmission, grid regulation, and/or state-specific utility regulatory frameworks

 

Primary (Essential) Job Functions

  • Support and maintain regulatory change management and other-related workflows within the CMS/GRC, including tracking regulatory developments and monitoring implementation across business units.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the CMS/GRC platform, supporting workflow management, data integrity, and system administration.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and other analytics to provide visibility into regulatory requirements, compliance activities, and emerging regulatory risks.
  • Translate regulatory data into clear reporting and insights to support management and executive decision-making.
  • Support the establishment of regulatory ownership and accountability across functions by helping define roles, responsibilities, and workflow handoffs within the CMS/GRC.
  • Develop and monitor business unit performance targets and metrics related to regulatory compliance activities.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance regulatory reporting, analytics, and automation within the compliance management system to improve enterprise visibility into regulatory risks and compliance performance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve current processes, data accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Decision Making

Responsible for synthesizing regulatory compliance data and reporting related to regulatory obligations (e.g., ISO/RTO, NERC, and other applicable regulatory agencies) through the enterprise CMS/GRC to support management decision-making. Assists Managers and/or Directors in identifying regulatory risks, trends, and potential cross-jurisdictional gaps based on data analysis and reporting. Provides insights that inform management decisions related to regulatory management activities, compliance metrics, and enterprise reporting.

 

Communications & Organizational Requirements

Responsible for maintaining regular communication with Leadership regarding reporting, system workflows, and issues related to regulatory requirements. This role will interact with internal stakeholders across multiple functions, including operating Business Units, Legal, Regulatory and Political Affairs, Engineering and Construction, Business Management, and other teams to support regulatory reporting, compliance tracking, and regulatory change management activities. Strong communication skills are required, including the ability to prepare clear reports, dashboards, and presentation materials for management and executive leadership.

Job Overview

This position is responsible for the compilation and completion of formal requests of information addition to state and regulatory filings for all Palms Insurance companies. The role will review and analyze state statutes/regulations to determine reporting requirements and utilize Excel, SQL, and XMLs to extract, organize and submit data to state government agencies. This position will also identify and resolve compliance gaps in addition to implementing data quality checks and associated procedures for sufficiency.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze state statutes and regulations to determine requirements and ensure adherence to filing and regulatory requirements
  • Review standard regulatory and industry bulletins to identify changes in state and insurance regulatory regulations which impact statutory statistical data requirements
  • Review ad-hoc formal requests for information from the various states and map them in Palms' deliverables
  • Support the annual Producer Premium Reporting process by creating the CSV and XML files, validating for accuracy and submitting to the each state
  • Responsible for the preparation of responses to department of insurance (DOI) queries from states
  • Researches issues related to new and/or changing regulatory reporting requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
