Position Specific Description

Our Smart Grid Department is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Land Surveyor to guide land surveying operations across our entire service territory.  This role will cover a wide range of projects and will require the employee to leverage their experience for the implementation and standardization of land surveying services within the company.  If you are a talented surveying professional with a passion for precision, a drive for excellence and a willingness to take on big challenges, join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our utility infrastructure.

Job Overview

As a Lead Land Surveyor (Certified), you will play a vital role in overseeing and managing various land surveying projects. Your responsibilities will include ensuring accurate collection methodology, generating comprehensive reports, and providing certified signed-and-seal stamps with your license number. The successful candidate must hold an active professional land surveyor license in the state of Florida. This role requires a high level of expertise in surveying land for construction, mapmaking, permitting, and property boundary clarification. This position will administer all related legal, technical, and fieldwork requirements.     

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage land surveying project reports and products
  • Lead and conduct field surveys, including topographic, boundary, construction staking, and other permitting functions
  • Interpret legal documents and contracts for land surveying
  • Conduct research in survey archives and offices as needed to obtain information about property boundaries
  • Provide consultation, direction, and guidance to junior staff and management on matters related to land surveying
  • Accountable for the accuracy, timeliness, and legal compliance of all survey activities conducted
  • Maintain professional licenses and stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Professional Land survey certification 
  • Experience: 5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience: 10+ years
