Position Specific Description

At NextEra Energy, we are investing heavily in our Grid Transformation, and we are looking for a strong technology leader to drive strategy and flawless execution. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for the coordination of cross-functional strategic IT projects, including developing technology modernization roadmaps and portfolio execution efforts in concert with valued business partners to drive operational efficiencies and new business value. This person will oversee a large budget and scope and will coordinate with variety of teams to ensure successful and on-time delivery within the stated budgets. The Leader promotes and encourages collaboration and transparency and builds trusting relationships between business, delivery, and other entities within the organization. The successful candidate will be extremely organized, adept at all forms of communication, and a creative problem solver who leads using influence and excellent interpersonal skills. They will bring several years of large-scale system implementation experience and be well versed in managing technical risks. 

This position guides teams and manages vendors in the execution of agile initiatives and partners with business executives and enterprise technology teams to drive effective solution delivery. The ideal candidate shall have advanced program management skills and enjoy leading teams focused on driving operational transformation. Proven delivery experience working with System Integrators (SI) and future technology thought leadership are key to success in the role.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, influence, vision, and direction to the organization to contribute to achieving the company's goals
• Works with IT leaders to develop overall IT strategy in alignment with business strategy
• Oversees value stream by focusing on cost and risks of technology portfolio to meet business needs
• Supports and fosters innovative technologies to deliver new ideas that enable business transformation
• Ensures high levels of ongoing system and application performance quality
• Attracts, develops and retains a high-performing and diverse team
• Manages third party technical and outsourcing relationships to deliver project and operational support objectives
• Ensures technology processes are conducted in line with applicable standards and company policies
• Oversees IT budget in the defined area. Plan hardware, software, technology, resources spending properly to deliver in budget and on time.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Specific Qualifications

• Demonstrate strong understanding of AWS technologies and services, Spring frameworks, Angular, Java, and custom API development
• Experience leading technical resources including employees and contractors which includes providing technical direction and coaching/mentoring. 
• Experience within the utility industry is a plus
• Experience with the GE Advanced Distribution Management System is a plus. 
• Six Sigma certification is a plus
• Experience in IT strategy and execution
• Proven leadership with large and diverse project teams, technical leaders and architects to implement projects with SAFe Agile methodology.
• Communicate effectively on strategies, status, and outcomes
• Manages risks and dependencies, communicates and escalates impediments to facilitate transparency, and reduces bottlenecks
• A servant leader that attracts, retains and grows talent in the organization 
• Work closely with business leadership and operations to plan IT strategy, projects and investment that aligns with IT and business objectives.
• Responsible for partnering on infrastructure improvement efforts and ensuring application portfolio alignment. 
• Excellent in communication sills delivering oral and written presentations to senior leadership.
