Position Specific Description

Join the Information Technology (IT) group at NextEra Energy as a member of our dynamic digital transformation team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge products involving UI/UX, API, and Integration Services specifically for our Nuclear business unit. You will utilize your skills to develop new applications, enhance existing functionalities, and build functional user interfaces based on comprehensive user and business requirements. Your work will span platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS) or on-premise environments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement new applications and features
  • Optimize and enhance existing applications' functionalities
  • Collaborate with product owners and business teams to understand and analyze business requirements
  • Develop user-centric designs and functional prototypes
  • Work with cloud platforms such as AWS to build scalable solutions

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen interest in software product development
  • Enthusiasm, motivation, and a growth mindset with a passion for solving real-world data challenges
  • Self-motivated and proactive in learning new technologies
  • Commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with an ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting complex business requirements
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product owners
  • Proficiency in building user interfaces using Angular JS
  • Experience in developing APIs using Node, AWS Lambda, and APIGEE
  • Knowledge and experience in writing SQL queries for databases like Postgres or Oracle

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with UI/UX design principles
  • Understanding of integration services and cloud architecture

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists department with assigned projects
  • Completes challenging projects and assignments
  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school grad / GED
  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
