Position Specific Description

This internship blends user experience design and business analysis to improve web-based interfaces and supporting tools used for mission-critical applications in nuclear operations. The role provides hands-on experience in designing user-centric interfaces, prototyping solutions, and performing business analysis tasks to translate stakeholder needs into actionable requirements. Interns will work closely with UX designers, product owners, and IT engineers on the NEO (Nuclear NextEra One) platform, gaining exposure to AI-powered solutions, Co-Pilot integrations, and modern digital transformation initiatives within regulated nuclear environments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

UX/UI Design & Research

• Collaborate with designers and developers to improve usability and accessibility of NEO platform applications including work management, scheduling, and engineering tools

• Conduct user research, create wireframes/prototypes using industry tools (Figma, Adobe XD), and develop design systems for nuclear operations workflows

• Support the design of AI-enabled interfaces and Co-Pilot user experiences that enhance operational efficiency

 

Business Analysis Requirements

• Translate business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria for nuclear work management applications and AI integration projects

• Support sprint planning/backlog grooming for applications transitioning from legacy systems to the NEO digital platform

• Perform process mapping and gap analyses for Computer-Based Procedures (CBP) and other nuclear operational tools

 

Data Visualization & Reporting

• Design and develop dashboards/reporting interfaces supporting nuclear asset management, maintenance scheduling, and operational monitoring

• Create Power BI visualizations for AI-driven insights and Co-Pilot performance metrics

• Support mission-critical decision making through effective data interpretation within nuclear regulatory frameworks

 

AI & Innovation Support

• Assist with user experience design for AI-powered features including automated screening, work order generation, and intelligent scheduling

• Support Co-Pilot implementation and user adoption initiatives across nuclear operations

• Contribute to the design of agentic AI interfaces that assist engineers and operational staff

 

Collaboration & Documentation

• Work cross-functionally in regulated nuclear environments while adhering to strict security and regulatory requirements

• Create training materials and knowledge base articles for NEO platform adoption and AI tool utilization

• Present findings to stakeholders including nuclear operations teams, maintenance supervisors, and engineering staff

 

Learning & Development Opportunities

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists department with assigned projects
  • Completes challenging projects and assignments
  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
