Position Specific Description

As an Agile Leader in the software industry, you will play a crucial role in driving and fostering the agile mindset and practices within our organization. You will be responsible for leading and supporting agile development teams to deliver high-quality software solutions on time and within budget. Your expertise in agile methodologies, combined with your strong leadership skills, will enable you to guide teams through the entire software development lifecycle and empower them to continuously improve their performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to agile development teams, ensuring they understand and follow agile principles, values, and practices. Includes staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in agile methodologies, and incorporating relevant practices and tools into the team's workflow.
  • Coach and mentor team members on how to implement agile practices, encouraging self-organization, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to prioritize and manage product backlogs, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
  • In addition to Agile Leadership, this role will also facilitate effective and efficient agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, promoting collaboration and transparency.
  • Identify and remove any obstacles or impediments that hinder team productivity or delivery, fostering a culture of empowerment and problem-solving.
  • Promote a culture of learning and innovation within the teams, encouraging experimentation and the adoption of new tools and techniques.
  • Monitor and track team progress and performance metrics, providing timely feedback and implementing corrective actions when necessary. This includes implementing and using standard processes and dashboards in JIRA that can build a common view of work across PDIT.
  • Collaborate with other Agile Leaders and stakeholders to drive organizational agility and promote best practices across teams and departments.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that values diversity, inclusion, and open communication. This person should be a champion of our Corporate Values which include Commitment to Excellence, Doing the Right Thing, and Treating People with Respect
  • Budget management, including forecasting, tracking spending and understanding the levers to ensure projects stay aligned to financial metrics.
  • Management of SOWs for funded initiatives and management of Contractors who are part of SOWs

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Extensive experience (X+ years) working in software development, with a focus on Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or Lean.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering successful software development projects using Agile practices.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of Agile principles, values, and frameworks, and the ability to adapt them to different project and organizational contexts.
  • Familiarity with software development tools and practices, including continuous integration, test-driven development, and automated testing.
  • Ability to identify and resolve conflicts and facilitate decision-making in a collaborative and consensus-driven manner.
  • Agile certification(s) such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) is highly desirable.
  • Passion for learning and continuous improvement, with a growth mindset and a willingness to explore new approaches and technologies.
  • Experience at either a public utility or software development organization are highly desirable

Job Overview

This position guides teams in the execution of agile initiatives to deliver customer value. Employees in this role train and coach in the use of Scrum, Lean, Kanban, XP, and scale agile framework practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Trains and coaches leaders, teams, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindset 
  •  Contributes in Communities of Practice (CoP), within the agile network 
  •  Promotes and encourages collaboration and transparency and builds trusting relationships between business, delivery, and other entities within the organization 
  •  Facilitates periodic synchronization meetings across several different onsite and distributed delivery teams 
  •  Prepares program and release backlogs, as well as team and program objectives 
  •  Tracks, promotes, and publishes completed program features and program and team objectives 
  •  Manages risk and dependencies, communicates and escalates impediments to facilitate transparency, and reduces bottlenecks 
  •  Embraces a continuous improvement mindset, and drives the use of agile engineering best practices and innovation 
  •  Reports on standardized program-level metrics, and understands, tracks, and operates within the program budget 
  •  Plays an instrumental role in the organization's Agile transformation, acts as a change agent, and shows strong leadership skills with a positive and collaborative attitude 
  •  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED 
  •  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience 
  •  Experience: 6+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisor/Management/Leadership Experience: 2+ years
