Position Specific Description
The Treasury team at NextEra supports the financing plan for our Florida Power & Light and NextEra Energy Resources subsidiaries. The Treasury team supports our renewables development efforts by originating tax equity investments and project finance loans for new wind, solar, and storage projects. Ideal candidates have modeling experience, include DCF, NPV, IRR, and ROE analysis. This origination role provides opportunities to negotiate, diligence, and model new investments, as well as to make structuring recommendations to senior leadership. This is an incredible structured finance opportunity for finance professionals with an interest in renewables.
The Treasury origination team is responsible for engaging with counterparties, independent engineers and consultants, and legal counsel during the deal process in order to negotiate terms and conditions which are satisfactory for financial counterparties to make timely investment or lending decisions. The team also leads and coordinates transaction due diligence with all internal subject matter experts assisting with transaction.
In this position you will have responsibility and learn the following:
- Assist in structuring new tax equity and project finance loans
- Assist in preparing financing recommendations to senior management
- Supporting the financial modeling efforts by developing and reviewing transaction models; perform financial transaction analysis including: cash flow analysis, debt sizing, tax equity investment parameter modeling, as well as ad hoc DCF, NPV, IRR, and ROE analyses
- Leading due diligence efforts for new transactions and coordinating with internal and external subject matter experts
- Coordinate with legal to prepare transaction related communications including letters of intent, and negotiation and review of credit agreements or other transaction documents
The Treasury Intern will ideally possess the following:
- Ability to work on matrixed team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Strong analytical skills – including expertise in Excel
- Strong communication skills – interpersonal as well as the ability to create presentations

- Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
- Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

- Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
- Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
