Position Specific Description

We are seeking a Tax Manager to become a member of our Tax Planning team to support NextEra Energy’s investment group working on venture capital investments, fund investments and other equity investments that the investment group manages. This role will also support NextEra Energy’s M&A transactions from a tax perspective.  Our in-house tax department is a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate would have experience with Big 4 with focus on venture capital transactions, M&A and partnership taxation.

Employees in this job drive value by providing support to the organization with respect to the tax aspects of potential venture capital transactions, as well as pending acquisitions, dispositions, financings, reorganizations, restructurings, and joint ventures, with a view to optimize taxes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support various venture capital and M&A transactions, including partnering with the deal team, state income and non-income tax subject matter specialists and external advisors (to the extent necessary) to evaluate and structure the tax aspects of the transactions
  • Serve as the U.S. federal income tax single point of accountability for assigned projects, with a focus on application of the rules in US Internal Revenue Code Subchapters K or C
  • Develop, prepare and/or review financial models to estimate the tax consequences of the transactions, including experience modeling transactions with IRC Sections 704(c) layers and 743(b) layers
  • Clearly communicate complex tax issues to management and internal stakeholders
  • Review tax provisions in transaction documents
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Master in Accounting or Taxation
  • CPA
  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint

Job Overview

This position is responsible for managing and directing all activities regarding the organization’s tax policy including forecasting and analysis, planning and tax research.

Required Qualifications
