Position Specific Description

We are seeking a Tax Manager as a key member of the Tax Forecast team.  The Tax Manager’s responsibilities include:

(1) managing key aspects of the tax forecasting process and related effects on net income and cash tax flow;

(2) develop, prepare and review financial models to estimate tax consequences of transactions;

(3) manage cross functional projects and teams to enhance income tax benefits; and

(4) working closely on tax strategic initiative projects to continue to streamline and enhance processes related to forecasted tax provision calculations.

 

This position will help ensure that NextEra Energy, Inc. remains “Best in Class” by continuing to drive quality and efficiency of our income tax forecasting and reporting processes.

 

Tax Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage tax forecast cycle deliverables for monthly and quarterly reporting 
  • Develop and review financial models related to business development initiatives 
  • Partner with other member of Tax Operations to identify and explain variances from actuals
  • Partner with the Federal/State planning teams to ensure all M&A and other restricting transactions are accurately modeled and included in the forecast
  • Partner with other members of the Finance, Business Management and Business Development teams to enhance income tax analytics and benefits in project modeling
  • Manage cross functional projects to enhance income tax benefits across the business portfolio
  • Drive design and implementation of tax technology tools and data management solutions to automate and reduce risk related to forecasting

 

Preferred Tax Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in business finance, accounting, or tax preferred
  • Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics; an advanced degree is preferred
  • Well-developed analytical and commercial skills with an ability to identify and document both issues and proposed resolutions with minimal guidance
  • Proven ability to prepare and review executive communications on financial impacts of key decisions 
  • Ability to perform analysis on data and macro-economic trends to enhance business decisions
  • Strong computer skills with a focus on both analytical and research tools including SAP, Business Warehouse, Advanced excel, Power Query / Alteryx or similar platforms
  • Proven ability to lead projects to improve quality, efficiency, predictability and/or transparency
  • Desire to seek new and challenging tasks – self-starter mentality
     

Job Overview

This position is responsible for managing and directing all activities regarding the organization’s tax policy including forecasting and analysis, planning and tax research.

Required Qualifications


•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience: 8+ years

•  Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•  Master's - Accounting / Finance
•  LLM - Master of Laws
