Position Specific Description
The Tax team at NextEra Energy is responsible for supplying information to support the compliance, planning and forecast functions of the tax organization. The team focuses on ensuring accurate, complete and timely information is provided and readily available to support the company’s compliance and strategic goals. The effective use of technology, products, data management, and analytics is key to the success of the fixed asset team. On a day to day basis we are involved in meeting business needs by providing detailed fixed asset information from both a historic and forecast view. We are looking for a dynamic professional with an interest in accounting data and working in a capital-intensive environment. The individual must have the ability to understand business requirements and translate those into delivering solutions that meet the business needs. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and have a continuous improvement mindset with a natural drive to take ownership of the deliverables. Must Have Skills Desired Skills
Job Overview
This job is responsible for moderate to complex projects associated with the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns, separate company corporate income tax and partnership tax returns, consolidated tax returns and related reports.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepares and reviews federal/state/local income tax returns, schedules, extensions and payment estimates in line with the company’s tax filing calendar
• Conducts financial and economic analyses, developing and preparing the organization’s financial plans and budgets and interpreting financial reports and tax returns
• Researches inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims
• Prepares tax calculations to support tax controversy analyses
• Conducts tax assumptions in project models
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience: 2+ years
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Master's - Accounting / Finance
