Position Specific Description

We are seeking a Tax Analyst as a key member of the Tax Forecast team.  The Tax Analyst’s responsibilities include: 

(1) analyzing key aspects of the tax forecasting process and related effects on net income and cash tax flow; 
(2) develop and prepare financial models to estimate tax consequences of transactions; 
(3) work on cross functional projects to enhance income tax benefits; and 
(4) work closely on tax strategic initiative projects to continue to streamline and enhance processes related to forecasted tax provision calculations. This position will help ensure that NextEra Energy, Inc. remains “Best in Class” by continuing to drive quality and efficiency of our income tax forecasting and reporting processes.
 


Tax Analyst:

  • Prepare tax forecast cycle deliverables for monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Develop and prepare financial models related to business development initiatives
  • Partner with other members of Tax Operations to identify and explain variances from actuals
  • Partner with other members of the Finance, Business Management and Business Development teams to enhance income tax analytics and benefits in project modeling
  • Work on cross functional projects to enhance income tax benefits across the business portfolio
  • Drive implementation of tax technology tools and data management solutions to automate and reduce risk related to forecasting

 

Preferred Tax Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Well-developed analytical and commercial skills with an ability to identify and document both issues and proposed resolutions 
  • Prepare executive communications on financial impacts of key decisions
  • Ability to perform analysis on data and macro-economic trends to enhance business decisions
  • Strong computer skills with a focus on both analytical and research tools including SAP, Business Warehouse, Advanced excel, Power Query / Alteryx or similar platforms
  • Desire to seek new and challenging tasks – self-starter mentality

Job Overview

This job is responsible for moderate to complex projects associated with the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns, separate company corporate income tax and partnership tax returns, consolidated tax returns and related reports.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Prepares and reviews federal/state/local income tax returns, schedules, extensions and payment estimates in line with the company’s tax filing calendar
•   Conducts financial and economic analyses, developing and preparing the organization’s financial plans and budgets and interpreting financial reports and tax returns
•   Researches inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims
•   Prepares tax calculations to support tax controversy analyses
•   Conducts tax assumptions in project models
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience: 2+ years

•  Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•  Master's - Accounting / Finance
•  Tax Compliance
•  Tax Research
