Position Specific Description

NextEra Analytics is currently seeking a well-qualified candidate to join our Measurements & Standards team as an intern for the summer of 2023. The position will focus on root cause analysis, issue resolution, and customer communication in support of NextEra’s renewable energy greenfield and operating measurement device fleet. The analyst should be open to education opportunities (ex. python), have strong communication skills and be interested in the energy resource assessment process.  Success in this role will be driven by the intern’s ability to understand key concepts related to energy measurement by the end of the program along with a growing their technical skillset. Employees in this role will be key contributor to ensuring we are collecting quality data at prospective renewable energy projects to ensure we are supporting our growing pipeline.  Individuals will be encouraged to learn and demonstrate subject matter expertise related to the various measurement devices we use along with developing a strong software support background.  This position applies problem solving skills along with effective communication to drive customer issues to resolution. Candidates must have cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to be considered


 Some of the responsibilities for our plant internships are listed below:

  • Respond to vendor and internal queries in a timely and accurate way, via phone, email or chat
  • Research and analyze measurement device issues including remote troubleshooting
  • Conduct investigative work and trace root cause back as either a system defect, damage from surrounding elements, or human error
  • Work closely with internal wind and solar development teams to ensure fleet uptime so data is being captured year-round at prospective renewable sites
  • Serve as an SME for our internal Asset Manager system which contains thousands of different measurement devices
  • Become an expert on SoDAR, MET Tower, and LiDAR technologies related to wind and solar resource
  • Assist with keeping documentation updated to help expediate requests from third part independent engineers
  • Ensure continuous improvement to operational and customer satisfaction metrics
  • Identify internal customer needs and help them understand any issues or technology
  • Analyze, report, and resolve device issues through self-troubleshooting or working with 3rd party vendors
  • Continuously look to add to skillset related to coding and technical expertise through NextEra classes and 3rd party training
  • Update internal databases with information about technical issues and useful discussions with customers
  • Document and share feature requests and effective workarounds with team members
  • Follow up with customers to ensure their technical issues are resolved
  • Support internal teams by providing measurement device data for all financing requests
  • Familiar with coding concepts
  • Basic understanding of meteorological measurements
  • Interested in renewable energy development

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
