Position Specific Description

Join our dynamic Energy Marketing & Trading (EMT) organization, where you will collaborate closely with originators and the business development team to craft and execute complex, structured transactions in wholesale power and gas markets, in addition to supporting M&A and asset restructuring opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the Development of Transaction Strategies: Understand transaction economics and logistical constraints to design robust transaction strategies.
  • Financial Modeling: Create financial models to inform senior management of key economic drivers and quantify transaction impacts on both ratepayers and shareholders.
  • Support Commercial Structuring: Assist in the negotiation and development of contractual terms that fairly balance and allocate the respective risks and benefits for all parties involved.
  • Support Deal Vetting: Lead comprehensive deal vetting sessions with senior management to ensure alignment and thorough evaluation of potential transactions.
     

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced transactional environment, and creative/critical thinking, as well as the resourcefulness to handle challenges. Experience with financial modeling and executive-level presentation deck building is preferred.

Job Overview

Employees in this role are responsible for pursuing new cost effective bilateral power purchase agreements with Renewable/Qualifying Facility generators and managing existing/new bilateral power purchase agreements with Renewable/Qualifying Facility generators and/or Merchant generators. Individuals success is determined by successful negotiation of agreements that are approved by the Florida Public Service Commission. This position will be responsible for negotiation of agreements, filing of testimony, and testifying in front of FPSC.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Pursues new cost effective bilateral power supply agreements
•   Evaluates existing PPA's for extension, modification, or renegotiation
•   Directs and manages analysis processes related to power purchases
•   Participates in regulatory proceedings and testifies on technical issues
•   Responds as needed to interrogatories and discovery requests
•   Develops and files a revised Standard Offer Contract with FPSC
•   Assesses new technologies/fuels for impact to FPL system
•   Meets attendance and storm duty requirements
•   Works extended hours, as needed
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience:10+ years

•  Master's - Engineering
•  Master's - Other Sciences
