Position Specific Description

Database Administrator (DBA) will be embedded in the Full Requirements trading desk to deliver projects that improve processes and gain efficiencies.  Projects include:

i) Historical load database for all regions and customer types that is integrated into existing IT infrastructure

ii) Reports and tools to enhance and simplify information flow

iii) Templates that can be used by team members with varying experience and technical abilities

 

Job Overview:

Employees in this role are responsible for all activities associated with the design, development and implementation of data warehouse constructs.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Duties include identifying a company’s internal and external data sources, collaborating with department heads to determine their data storage and organizational needs and using the information to create and maintain data infrastructure for company employees

• Designs, implements, maintains, and monitors data warehouse structures

• Develops, documents, and implements guidelines, standards and procedures, maintenance of database dictionaries, and integration of systems through database design

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

• Work with various technologies but with a focus on Oracle and PostgreSQL

• Work with internal DBAs and application vendors for development and issue resolution and provide technical leadership to team and customers

 

Required qualifications:

  • Extensive experience designing, developing and maintaining data structures
  • Experience working directly with customers, resolving database, systems and infrastructure-related issues and also providing systems architecture leadership
  • Extensive SQL query writing and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with database management software
  • Data management skills
  • Coding skills in at least one scripting language a must (TCL, Perl, Python, PowerShell, VBA, etc.)
  • Experience in shell and python scripting with focus on DevOps tools, CI/CD
  • Significant exposure in various OS administration tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience engineering, administering and managing multiple relational database technologies (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 5+ years

 

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with ZEMA data discovery and analysis system
  • Deep knowledge in installing, configuring and maintaining enterprise Database Technology environments such as Oracle and PostgreSQL in an on premise and AWS Cloud infrastructure
  • SQL Tuning and Database Performance Evaluation and Configuration
  • Working knowledge of relational database internals (locking, consistency, serialization, disaster recovery)
  • Systems engineering experience, including AIX / Linux performance, memory management, I/O & Performance tuning, security, clusters and troubleshooting
