Position Specific Description

The expansion of the transmission system will pave the way for a carbon-free future that allows renewables to be implemented in resource optimal locations and transported to load centers. In order to achieve this goal, significant amounts of new transmission infrastructure will need to be built. NextEra Energy Transmission (NEET) is the leading competitive transmission developer in the US and Canada to develop transmission solutions that enable this future. The NEET Sr. GIS analyst will work with management and project developers in support of transmission development throughout the US and Canada. This position is responsible for data modeling to design and support moderately complex special projects including maps, digital data, reports, and statistics; identify and deliver innovative solutions and development paths; and coordinate completion of projects with quality deliverables.

 

Employees in this role provide Geographic Information System (GIS) data analysis, data mining, technical support and database maintenance to meet NEET internal and external customers’ requirements.

 

This position will sit onsite at NextEra Energy Transmission's Juno Beach, FL office.

 

Employee will:

  • Provides site suitability analysis for substation and transmission siting
  • Provides map production to executives, management, multidiscipline business units, RFP responses, etc.
  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert on GIS projects and data steward
  • Performs data mining activities to meet customer requirements/specifications
  • Provides specialized queries and reports to meet customer requirements/specifications
  • Performs application testing and documentation of defects
  • Interfaces with Information Services (IS) GIS Support group; represents users' issues
  • Interfaces with users; documents/maps requested/needed changes
  • Identifies training requirements; creates and maintains training and procedural documentation
  • Identifies new GIS technologies, process, and applications to improve departmental functions
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

This position supports management by supplying solutions for technical transmission issues for Development projects and current assets for project or region of responsibility.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 4+ years
