Position Specific Description

Risk Management oversees all insurance needs for NextEra Energy, Inc., as well as identifies, mitigates, retains, and transfers risks to the organization.  The group is responsible for engaging with internal business units, insurance brokers, insurance companies and other external parties.  Risk Management also oversees Palms Insurance Limited, its captive insurance company. Provide support in the administration of Company’s captive insurance company, including the preparation of insurance license applications, regulatory compliance, collateral management, contract negotiation, development and implementation of all required processes and SOX compliance, interface with internal business units, regulators and other external parties.

Serve as subject matter expert on project financings involving the preparation of insurance consultant reports, certificates of insurance and responses to lender due diligence, all needed to facilitate a successful closing.  Provide support to M&A initiatives, including data room due diligence and contract review/negotiation to ensure a smooth post-closing integration.    

 

Candidate should be self-motivated, detail-oriented and exhibit strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), decision making and analytical problem-solving skills.  Ability to work on a matrixed team in a fast-paced environment, while supporting multiple competing priorities simultaneously.  Bachelor’s in business, insurance/risk management or law field preferred.        

Job Overview

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">This position performs insurance underwriting analysis of claim data, loss forecasts, and loss layer analysis. Employees in this position ensure accurate investigation, processing, and recovery of settlements.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Assesses the risk of loss to company property and manage property claims, acting as liaison between business units, insurance adjustors and other outside agencies
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Reviews policies for propriety, including property, excess liability, worker's compensation, and nuclear property and liability
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Assists in the placement of insurance coverage
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Provides management with oversight of the Company’s captive insurance company, including responsibility for budgeting, financial reporting, administrative oversight, coordination of audits, and actuarial reviews
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Interfaces with management and regulators to develop and implement all required processes and SOX compliance
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">High School Grad / GED
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience: 5+ years
Preferred Qualifications
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance
