Position Description:  NextEra Energy was ranked #1 among electric and gas utility companies in Fortune® magazine's "America's Most Admired Companies®," and ranked #1 in each of the eight attributes evaluated, Innovation, Quality of Management, Financial Soundness, Quality of Products and Services, Social Responsibility, People Management, Long-Term Investment, and Use of Corporate Assets.  Fossil fuel needed to run FPL’s power plants is our largest expense.  An important aspect to maintaining our competitive advantage is to operate our power plants at peak fuel efficiency.  We also need to maintain or improve each unit’s generating capability to maximize the asset’s value.  Come work in a team environment with other talented professionals to make a difference in the performance of one of the premier electrical generating companies in the US.  The successful candidate for this position will be involved in improving fuel efficiency and generating capability across our entire fleet of fossil, nuclear, wind, solar and solar-thermal power plants using remote monitoring techniques to:

  • Use their knowledge of ASME PTC codes and testing techniques to develop automated remote monitoring of equipment performance or to conduct testing at power plants
  • Leverage technology to develop exception based automated alerting to identify opportunities for performance improvement
  • Develop heat balance analysis to identify opportunities or to estimate benefits of proposed capital improvements
  • Develop performance and operating assumptions for internal power marketing and load dispatching departments

This individual will be responsible for coordinating required performance testing at NextERA Energy power plants.  Power plant operations and maintenance experience desirable.  Six Sigma certification and proficiency with heat balance modeling software desirable.

Position Requires: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Work Schedule: M-F, 7:30am-4:30pm, occasional overtime required to support internal customers.

•   Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual's field
•   Completes assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
