Position Specific Description

The employee in this position will: 

 

Work to provide land use and zoning support for different business units including Development, Power Delivery, Power Generation, Environmental Services, and Gas Infrastructure. 

 

Support the solar projects for FPL and FRP, working with the team on all land use and zoning issues. When necessary to attend DRC, P&Z, and County Commission meetings. Work with local staff, manage outside planners, and other relevant consultants.

 

Draft entitlement memos for due diligence efforts related to solar development throughout Florida.  These memos will outline existing zoning and land use and provide a description of the process required for development. 
 

Job Overview

Employees in this role assist attorneys in support of plant siting and land use matters under consideration for project development.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs research, issues analysis, planning, and budgeting regarding applicable local, state, and federal land use and environmental regulations for numerous projects
  • Assists development to obtain applicable permits and approvals for present and future land use needs, rezoning, conditional use permits, and other permits required for project construction and operation
  • Drafts applications and assists attorneys with negotiation of permits, land use conditions, variances, and amendments as needed
  • Assists the project team with presentations before municipal and regulatory boards and advisory committees
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 6+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
