Position Specific Description

In this role you will have a chance to directly impact the growth of our Development teams, as a Project Valuation focused, Financial Analyst. You will prepare investment valuation of behind the meter and distribution level solar, storage, green hydrogen, nat gas, CHP, and wind acquisitions and greenfield energy projects.  Identify and analyze the impact of relevant investment, regulatory, development and/or business issues facing NextEra Energy Resources on the company's financial structure, profitability, financial integrity and competitive position.  You will have the opportunity to work directly with Origination, Development, E&C, Tax, Accounting, Legal, Business Management, and Regulatory teams to take a project from early stages to construction completion.  The role requires ability to distill complex analytical issues into simple to understand analysis for management decision making.  You will also develop recommendations to provide management for earnings, cash flow and price competition enhancement opportunities.  You will be asked to prepare and present financial analyses and executive summaries to management.  The team is looking for strong analytical, financial, and Microsoft Excel skills required, as well as someone who is detail oriented with the ability to work with little to no supervision, while multitasking.  We are looking to bring on more top talent to help us continue to grow and we look forward to reviewing your application!

Job Overview

Employees in this role perform financial due diligence and prepare investment valuations of acquisitions and greenfield projects in the energy industry. Individuals are expected to work with limited supervision to identify and analyze the impact of relevant investment, environmental and/or business issues facing NextEra Energy on the company’s financial structure, profitability, financial integrity and competitive position.  The successful candidate applies advanced abilities to comprehend, analyze, frame and resolve complex analytical issues and distill them into simple to understand analysis for management decision making, communicating the key investment benefits and risks to senior management, and providing expertise and support to other NextEra departments requiring financial consulting services or financial training.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Performs financial pro forma modeling and analysis work products
•   Coordinates engagement with Development leaders and Subject Matter Experts (SME)
•   Coordinates the gathering of SME assumptions
•   Reviews SME assumptions and resolves open issues
•   Prepares management presentations
•   Presents to Risk Committee/CFO reviews, and senior management vetting meetings (based on ability)
•   Assists in developing valuation standards and policies
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance
•  Experience: 5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
  • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)
  • Master’s - Accounting / Finance
