Position Specific Description

Senior financial analyst position in the Project Finance Group, which leads the oversight of NextEra Energy Resources and NextEra Energy Partners project financings and tax equity loan portfolio of over 80 financings totaling over $15 billion and growing.  Working with Business Management, Financial Controllers, Internal Legal Counsel and Treasury, this position will have primary responsibilities for compliance activities for the project finance portfolio. 

These activities include reviewing and interpreting credit agreements, limited liability company agreements and other relevant documents governing the financings.  Identifying and understanding transactions and applying financing agreement provisions to remain in compliance.  Other activities include, due diligence on proposed financings, sensitivity and scenario analysis, maintaining models for creating monthly and quarterly reports as well as annual budgets.  This position will also have investor communication responsibilities including working closely with administrative agents and trustees of the financings to ensure compliance.  The Project Finance Group also supports annual presentations to investors and lenders and other communications.

 

Activities

  • Manage NextEra Energy Resources project financings and tax equity loan portfolio of approximately 80 financings totaling over $15 billion.
  • Oversee all loan covenant compliance; ensure all required compliance certificates are issued in a timely manner
  • Manage loan payment and cash distribution process ensuring all debt obligations and distributions paid accurately, on time and in compliance with the governing agreements
  • Perform analysis to monitor the health of financings in the portfolio
  • Prepare and deliver communications to management providing updates on the financing portfolio
  • Review loan and tax equity legal agreements prior to closing new transactions, provide feedback for uniformity as needed 
  • Provide monthly and quarterly financial performance reports to lenders and investors, support the preparation and presentation of annual lender/investor presentations
  • Assist Project Analysis and Reporting and other business unites with interpretation of loan documents with regard to financial and operating level compliance requirements
  • Manage correspondence and inquiries with the various trustee and administrative agents; work with Project Analysis and Reporting team members as well as Treasury to provide a coordinated response
  • Liaise with NextEra Treasury group regarding operating performance of financings, rating agency updates, lender/investor inquires, and lender notices
  • Continuously work to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions
  • Perform Ad Hoc reporting and analysis as required

Job Overview

Employees in this role support senior management decision making via financial modeling and analysis, including but not limited to, revenue requirements and customer bill impacts, discounted cash flow analysis, and financial statement modeling. This position identifies and conducts complex analysis of financial impacts to issues and/or decisions facing the company and proposes strategies to maximize financial performance of company.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identifies, analyzes, and communicates to management the impact on the Company's financial structure, profitability, and competitive position utilizing relevant analytical methods and/or department forecasting models
  • Provides financial analysis support for various projects, calculating revenue requirements, net present value, customer bill impact, etc.
  • Provides expertise, support, and financial training for the company departments requiring these services
  • Performs financial analyses as required by management or regulatory bodies
  • Makes recommendations on financing decisions and executes long and/or short term financings
  • Prepares PowerPoint presentations to be provided to Senior and Executive Management 
  • Acts as a mentor to lower level employees
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s - Accounting / Finance
  • Master’s - Accounting / Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
