Position Specific Description
The Regulated Property Accounting team is looking for a Sr Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and take ownership of FPL/Gulf Distributed Generation solar, and battery storage projects, adding value through critical thinking and inter-personal skills.
Specific duties and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
Work closely with the Development, Engineering & Construction, Project Controlling, and Tax teams to ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance with policies
Review master data accuracy for recording new assets such as WBS, company codes, profit and cost centers, asset locations
Responsible for activities in the areas of compliance, transactional accounting, reporting and analytics required to support FPL operations
Review and monitor capital projects in accordance with SOX
- Research, analysis and reporting related to Allowance for Funds Used During Construction (AFUDC)
- Maintain and monitor the Powerplan systems application of AFUDC
- Provide guidance to BU on eligibility of AFUDC
- Prepare accounting memo for projects that are eligible or ineligible for AFUDC
- Review, monitor, and reconcile deferred project cost to ensure validity
Responsible for month end close processes including preparing journal entries and various reporting deliverables
Responsible for balance sheet & income statement variance reporting
Responsible for assigned accounts reconciliations
Support monthly, quarterly & annual reporting and filings requirements (SEC, FERC, FPSC)
Support various projects as assigned
Prepare ad hoc analyses and reports as needed

Strong financial analysis and presentation skills
Ability to quickly establish priorities and meet all assigned deadlines related to the FCOE accounting close
Expertise in SAP and Excel

Continuous process improvement mindset
Required:
Bachelor’s degree Accounting/Finance
(years’ experience for Senior)
Preferred:
Regulated Utility Experience
