Position Specific Description

The Technical Sales Lead will be an integral member of a new business within NextEra focused on providing innovative, energy SaaS solutions to C&I customers and utilities, starting with NextEra 360, NextEra’s SaaS platform. NextEra manages $50B+ worth of renewable assets and NextEra 360 (NE360) was created almost 10 years ago to improve NextEra's own asset performance. Today we’re bringing NE360 to the market as an end-to-end energy management solution to help our customers to unlock the potential to efficiently accelerate their decarbonization journey.

 

Technical Sales Leads are the technical expert and trusted advisor to customers, NextEra Analytics’ sales teams and NextEra’s internal channel partners. You will work with the SaaS sales and internal sales channels to help identify, progress, and close NE360 opportunities. You will understand the customer’s business requirements, technical requirements, and the competitive landscape. By applying your business insights and deep subject matter expertise, you build and maintain customer relationships, and incorporate what you have learned through the discovery process to design a solution that aligns to the business needs of the customer. Your primary focus will be to translate the NE360 value proposition for a customer to drive deals to a successful close and ensure customer success.

 

Technical Sales Leads require a combination of strong business acumen, high technical aptitude, solution selling, and teaming. Technical Sales Leads are innately curious, creative problem-solvers, possess deep empathy and are adept at conducting customer-centric discovery for the purpose of unlocking business value. Travel may be required up to 25%.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Collaborate with sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions.

· Deliver product demonstrations, technical education, and proof of concepts.

· Support technical discussions and solution design throughout the sales process in order to progress/close deals and build customer relationships.

· Provide input on proposals and draft scope of work.

· Maintain an understanding of the customer’s industry, including industry trends, industry business processes.

· Understands NE360 capabilities’, the competitive market, NextEra’s unique value proposition.

 

Preferred Qualifications

· 5+ years in tech sales/sales engineering, sales, business development, or energy-industry required

· Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred

· Experience in at least one of B2B SaaS/Software sales, power marketing and trading, and serving the Commercial & Industrial customer segment preferred

· Skilled in solution/consultative selling with the ability to lead and facilitate discovery sessions and demonstrations with customers

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive result
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects 
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
