Position Specific Description

 

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager to lead and optimize the critical risk assessment process for NextEra Energy Transmission (NEET) development projects, ensuring seamless alignment with NextEra Energy Resources (NEER) standards and enabling prompt leadership decision-making. This role serves as the strategic bridge between NEET leadership, NEET development teams, and broader NEER risk team, harmonizing risk reporting processes while supporting high-priority strategic initiatives across the organization. This position utilizes advanced analytical tools like Monte Carlo simulations and other risk analytics to evaluate and communicate project risks effectively. The role reports directly to NEET leadership and offers significant exposure to senior leadership across NextEra Energy business while playing a critical part in NextEra Energy's transmission development strategy and risk management excellence.

 

Key Success Metrics

  • All risk documents consistently meet both NEER and NEET standards and expectations in relation to content and format, are error-free, and are developed and submitted on time
  • Internal project approvals proceed without rejection, delay, or postponement due to documentation or risk assessment deficiencies
  • Leadership receives adequate visibility into development project risks, enabling immediate decision-making without delays due to insufficient information or risk assessment gaps

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategic Partnership & Collaboration

  • Serve as strategic partner to NEET leadership and nationwide developers to identify, surface, and address most critical risks for key projects
  • Act as primary interface between NEET and NEER leadership to develop tailored risk solutions and escalate critical issues
  • Ensure NEET's strategic direction is properly reflected and absorbed in all development project evaluations

 

Risk Process Management, Analysis & Communication

  • Adapt and customize risk templates to address NEET's unique business requirements and project characteristics in line with NEER’s standards and expectations
  • Develop comprehensive perspectives and supporting materials that accurately communicate true risk profiles of development projects
  • Lead advanced risk analytics utilizing Monte Carlo simulations and analogous methodologies
  • Lead internal vetting processes to ensure timely, accurate communication to management across all project phases
  • Challenge assumptions, validate risk assessments, and ensure comprehensive analysis of all critical project elements
  • Maintain active feedback loop between internal risk committees and development teams to ensure continuous improvement
  • Drive follow-up actions and strategic initiatives to ensure identified risks are systematically addressed as part of NEET’s continuous improvement plan
  • Build and maintain current view of potential risks and monitor implementation of related mitigation actions

 

Strategic Initiative Support

  • Partner with NEET leadership in executing high-priority strategic initiatives beyond core risk vetting responsibilities
  • Lead targeted strategic projects and process improvements as assigned

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost-effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day-to-day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost-effective and competitive result
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects 
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad/GED
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience:  5+ years
