Position Specific Description

Lead the development of renewable natural gas (RNG) projects from initial feasibility through commercial operation, managing multi-stakeholder agreements and ensuring successful project delivery within NextEra Energy's clean energy portfolio.

This role will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end RNG project development including site assessment, feasibility studies, permitting, interconnection, and providing support through engineering, construction, and commercial operation planning. The Senior PM will collaborate with internal stakeholders consisting of origination, environmental, engineering and construction, project valuation, legal, operations, and business management to ensure that projects are appropriately and sufficiently derisked prior to seeking management approval.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in negotiating and structuring complex RNG supply agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and landfill gas rights contracts, along with strong leadership and communication skills to work closely with external stakeholders throughout the development process. The candidate will secure all necessary governmental authorizations, permits, and approvals for facility construction and operation.

 

Position Specific Duties and Responsibilities

· Build and maintain relationships with landfill operators, utilities, pipeline operators, and regulatory agencies

· Lead negotiations with local distribution pipeline operators and electric utilities for interconnection agreements

· Coordinate with legal teams on contract terms, obligations, and dispute resolution

· Prepare project approval packages and present project updates and recommendations to senior leadership and other senior-level stakeholders

· Collaborate with engineering teams on facility design including gas collection, processing, and interconnection systems

Job Overview

This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost-effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day-to-day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost-effective and competitive result
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects 
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad/GED
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
