Position Specific Description

In this role you will have the opportunity to work as a  member of FPL’s Solar Development Team and manage the development process and execution of a portfolio of FPL’s universal scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects across the geographic breadth of the company’s service territory. You will be responsible for developing an execution strategy and managing the day-to-day solar project development process from project inception through the transition to construction and operation. You will manage relationships with business units across the FPL organization, including corporate real estate, environmental services, power delivery, engineering, procurement, legal, and other subject matter experts to coordinate and conduct project design and engineering, interconnection, permitting, scheduling, budgeting, and regulatory compliance activities. Specific responsibilities include the following: 

  • Manage all aspects of the development process to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of permitting. 
  • Lead coordination with internal resources and external consultants who will form your project team.
  • Coordinate key functions such as due diligence, permitting, engineering/design, legal review, and public outreach. 
  • Foster and build external relationships with customers, community members/leaders, and local elected officials. 
  • Negotiate agreements with consultants and subcontractors.
  • Construct contractual arrangements for project development.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple complex projects.
  • Prepare presentations and other written materials for key project stakeholders including senior management, local government and community leaders, landowners, permitting agencies, and other interested parties.
     

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive result
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects 
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad/GED
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience:  5+ years
