Position Specific Description

Join NextEra Energy Resources' dynamic M&A team and play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic energy infrastructure and development opportunities. This position offers the chance to work on high-impact transactions that drive our growth in renewables, battery storage, gas and electric transmission infrastructure while supporting our broader energy portfolio strategy.

 

What You'll Do

Corporate Strategy: Managing workstreams to help formulate and evolve corporate development and M&A strategy including working with power point and integrating quantitative and qualitative analytics into management presentations for the most senior leaders of NextEra.

 

M&A Deal Diligence and Support: Coordinate multiple workstreams, manage timelines, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines

 

Financial Analysis & Modeling: Develop sophisticated financial models to evaluate natural gas assets, including DCF analysis, comparable company analysis, and sensitivity modeling

Due Diligence Management: Lead and coordinate comprehensive due diligence processes, working with cross-functional teams including legal, technical, environmental, and commercial groups

 

Market Research: Analyze natural gas market trends, pricing dynamics, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to identify strategic opportunities

Deal Execution: Support transaction processes from initial screening through closing, including preparation of investment committee materials and management presentations

 

Stakeholder Communication: Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and collaborate with internal teams across the organization

 

What You'll Bring

Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, or related field; MBA, CFA preferred but not required

 

Experience: 3-7 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, consulting, or corporate finance

 

Financial Modeling Expertise: Advanced skills in building complex financial models, scenario analysis, and valuation methodologies

 

Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail

 

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases; experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, or similar platforms preferred

 

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex information clearly to various audiences 

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost-effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day-to-day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost-effective and competitive result
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects 
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
