Position Specific Description

Our Distributed Generation Business Unit is looking for a Senior Project Manager for its Community Solar team. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for defining and executing the strategy for acquisition and maintenance for a portfolio of Community Solar projects across the country.

 

The Senior Project Manager will work closely with (1) Regional Project Directors that develop projects within their region (2) Originations that will assist in securing Commercial & Industrial (“C&I”) customers interested in community solar offtake and (3) Business Managers who are responsible for the overall P&L of generating assets.(4) Accounting and Finance to book entries for Community Solar projects

 

This role has the following primary responsibilities:

  • Lead Community Solar Team
  • Oversee your Team’s strategy and negotiation of definitive agreements with C&I customers (Subscriber Agreements). 
  • Lead the strategy and oversee the negotiation of Master Services Agreements (“MSAs”) and Statements of Work (“SOWs”) with third-party partners who acquire and maintain community solar customers on our behalf; serve as the main point of contact for partners and ensure terms and conditions negotiated in agreements are upheld by said partners.
  • Oversee the allocation, maintenance, and overall performance of community solar portfolio, including interfacing with third-party partners, Utilities and C&I customers, internal leadership on a regular basis. 
  • Understand and stay abreast of new and emerging community solar markets, including understanding the regulatory framework, program mechanics and compliance requirements to aid in market entry. 
  • Lead market-specific compliance related tasks.
     

In this role you will manage relationships with multiple levels of leadership, numerous subject matter experts (SMEs), including but not limited to origination, development, commercial legal, tax, accounting, and business management.

 

Practical experience in negotiating Power Purchase Agreement or Subscriber Agreements, solar project development, project management, regulatory research and a history of interfacing with regulated utilities will set you up to be effective in this role.

 

To do this job well, you must be a team player that can balance priorities, be organized, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, and communicate effectively with numerous internal subject matter experts, external consultants, customers, and internal management.

This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day-to-day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost-effective and competitive result
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects 
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
