Position Specific Description

Senior Project Manager responsible for all aspects of augmenting and/or restoring Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).  This includes all engineering, purchasing, permits, construction, managing of field supervision/oversight and commissioning.  As such, the candidate must have strong working knowledge of DC / AC electrical and control systems (directly with BESS preferred) and familiarity with associated civil / mechanical disciplines (i.e., projects can include foundations, underground conduits, container cooling / fire suppression systems, mechanical battery racking, etc.).  In addition, the position is responsible for driving decisions and developing approaches with a number of internal and external groups (i.e., Engineering & Planning Teams / Firms, Business Management, Finance, Tax, Risk Management, Purchasing, Development, Land Owners, Site Operations, etc.).  The role is also responsible for evaluating various economic scenarios considering total cost factors (such as revenue loss, tax credit eligibility, parts / inventory, transportation, tax, cranes, construction method costs, etc.) and meticulously documenting all costs for project planning, budgeting, tacking and insurance submittals (if applicable).  The position will also be responsible for the future demolition of BESS sites upon reaching end of useful life. 
Candidates require 5-10 years of demonstrated Project Management / Planning experience in the areas of Electrical engineering and construction (preferably with BESS) as well as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.  Direct experience with the construction, maintenance and/or operation of BESS sites is a plus, as is Project Management Certification (PMP), Professional Engineering Licenses (EIT/PE) and/or Six-Sigma Quality Belt Certification. 
The position will be based out of our Juno Beach / Palm Beach Gardens office and will require occasional travel to BESS sites across North America.  The candidate must be able and willing to visit BESS sites for both planning / engineering inspections and quality of work assurance.

Employees in this job are accountable for providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective implementation of assigned and approved capital projects. The position is responsible for establishing a single point of ownership and accountability for non-major maintenance capital projects within FPL or NextEra. Individuals in this role devise standardized PM processes and controls for reporting and contracting practices throughout that ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and terms and conditions that provide a reasonable rate of return, address governmental compliance, cure personnel and property risk issues, and impart high quality and schedule adherence.
