Position Specific Description

WindLogics is currently seeking a well-qualified candidate to join our team as an Operations Engineer.  This team leverages data analytics, cutting-edge data science, machine learning algorithms, and Six Sigma practices to grow our position in the burgeoning field of controlling IoT behind-the-meter energy devices.  The Operations Engineer will focus on the analysis, performance monitoring, product support and continuous improvement of WindLogics energy management control system (DispatchER). Specifically, applying advanced scientific methods and tools to analyze the dispatch performance of storage and load control devices and ensuring financial performance relative to commercial terms. The candidate achieves successful results by effectively applying analytical solutions, understanding results and articulating results to WindLogics leadership team, external customers, and other business units.


Primary (Essential) Job Functions Include:
• Conducts operational assessments and performance tracking of battery and load control devices relative to commercial obligations
• Conducts financial analysis of operational dispatch relative to expected demand charge savings and other tariff related savings and/or revenues.
• Designs and uses diagnostic tools to monitor asset performance and collaborates with WindLogics software engineering and applied math team for root cause analysis and software improvements
• Assists Solutions Leads in driving product design that moves the needle and unlocks value


• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, applied math, or related field
• 3+  years of experience in a combination of the following areas; wind/solar energy, battery storage or related utility field
• Proficient in developing custom data analysis tools using R, Python, Matlab, Visual Basic, Excel Macro, PowerBI
• Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization; both written and oral


Desired Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in engineering, statistics, atmospheric science or related field
• 5+  years of experience in a combination of the following areas; wind/solar energy, battery storage or related utility field
• Expert level abilities with statistical analysis packages (R, Python, Matlab, etc.) and other computer science languages preferred (C++, Java, Javascript, etc.)
• Familiarity with, and experience in, Agile and Scrum methodologies

Job Overview

Employees in this role oversee the analysis and reporting of wind plant operations. Individuals provide wind plant operational assessments for the entire fleet including applying advanced scientific methodologies to production data. This position applies analytical solutions and effectively articulates results to other business units and to executive management through risk vetting and operational committees.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides assessments of operating wind plants
  • Creates production profiles used for financial analysis and budget setting
  • Performs turbine diagnostic reviews and collaborates on root cause analysis
  • Oversees and develops techniques or process to mitigate production variances or predictions
  • Performs month-end performance reporting and collection of input data from other business units
  • Oversees all aspects of wind operations deliverables and process including Operational assessments, budget support, GenE, power curve fitting, and wind energy index
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
