Position Specific Description

The Senior Manager Labor Relations position provides support to the Director of Labor Relations and business partners in the areas of contract negotiation, contract administration, union avoidance and positive employee relations. The role optimizes working relationships between the various labor unions and the company.  It develops and executes labor relations strategies to meet critical business objectives. The individual will:

 

  • Actively participate in collective bargaining agreement negotiations including development and successful execution of strategies to maximize efficiency, productivity and economic competitiveness of the company.
  • Interface with senior company leadership to develop negotiations priorities and effectively communicate progress towards conclusion of an approved agreement.
  • Develop and execute labor relations strategies that advance company business priorities, promote positive company-union relations, and increase employee engagement.
  • Develop and manage union avoidance strategies and tools that proactively mitigate the risk of union organizing activities. Provide guidance and training for management on union avoidance and manage company efforts during campaigns.
  • Lead grievance hearings and provide necessary support and preparation during arbitrations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to managers regarding the application and interpretation of human resources practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide leadership, training, and education to managers across areas such as: collective bargaining, conflict resolution, employment/labor law, performance management, union avoidance and employee engagement.
  • Stay current on federal, state and local regulations and events pertaining to labor issues.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in human resources, labor relations or related field of study or equivalent education and experience.
  • Master’s Degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of labor and employee relations experience in roles of increasing responsibility.
  • Experience working in a collective bargaining environment.
  • Labor Relations Professional certification
  • SPHR or PHR (Professional Human Resources) certification

 

This position will bee 100% on site in our Juno Beach Office. 

Job Overview

The leader in this job manages the labor relations function to ensure an effective working relationship between union management and the company. This role serves on the negotiating team and provides management with the labor strategy and programs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads planning strategy and develops supporting information for labor contract negotiations 
  • Develops labor relations policies that are consistent with company direction and the Memorandum of Agreement 
  • Provides guidance and training for management on union organizing activities and manages company efforts during campaigns 
  • Provides leadership on compliance with regulatory agency standards and develop programs and work practices that comply with and provide the maximum protection necessary to safeguard employee safety and health 
  • Consults with management regarding preventative labor relations or interpretations and resolution of disputes involving collective bargaining agreements 
  • Provides leadership and guidance to managers regarding the application and interpretation of human resources practices, policies, and procedures 
  • Leads grievance hearings, union negotiations and arbitrations 
  • Provides leadership, training, and education to managers across areas such as: collective bargaining, conflict resolution, employment law, performance management, union avoidance and employee engagement 
  • Mentor to labor relation rotation employees
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 10+ years
  • Leadership Experience: 5+ years
