Position Specific Description

The Digital Innovation – Strategic Initiatives team forges the strategic direction of NextEra Energy.  We strive to transform business models to meet evolving customer needs and grow the company through the adoption of new and emerging technologies. The investments we are making now will help the company create innovative improvements and unlock new potential revenue streams for the future.

The Senior Innovation Technology Specialist is a strong influencer guiding NextEra business units through a complex ecosystem of technologies changing the energy economy.  This role is:

 

  • Part Business Development
  • Part Technology Evangelist
  • Part Project Manager
  • Part Futurist

 

The Lead Innovation Analyst is responsible for managing strategic partnerships for innovation and research & development, evaluating new technology solutions, building disruptive business plans, and project managing proof of concept projects. This person will communicate compelling arguments for technology to senior leaders, product managers, architects, and others to ensure that NextEra is fully informed of changes driven by emerging technologies. The Lead Innovation Analyst partners with leaders and key stakeholders to conduct strategic discovery and opportunity analysis to identify and implement key business technology initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Acts as a lead analyst for evaluating emerging technologies and disruptive business models
  • Develops strategic presentations articulating the value of emerging technologies and their applications toward incremental, transformations, or disruptive innovation
  • Collaborates with business points of contact to develop plans for the adoption of emerging technology solutions
  • Evaluates sources from news articles, industry publications, and relevant data sources to keep the team current on emerging trends and competitive advantages
  • Grows and actively pursues relationships within the business units discover hidden pain points and technology needs
  • Provides leadership in the integration/implementation for innovation initiatives, with cross-functional business partners, recognizing the significance of competing priorities and strategies and adjusting as necessary


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of business experience
  • 3+ years technical experience

  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions and translate findings that are not in your technology area of focus
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a highly dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members


Other Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years of strategic partnership experience
  • 5+ years of engineering or technical experience
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current energy industry trends and operational practices
  • A strong aptitude for emerging technologies and specific industry trends
  • Experience writing business plans, startup pitches, and presentations
  • A genuine ability to push the envelope of thinking for technology effects on current business models in the short and long term


Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
  • This role is primarily in the office

 

Job Overview

This position is responsible for day-to-day (24 hours per day, seven days per week) operational support for an organization's Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure, including data- and voice-related activities. Employees in this role provide technical support for all client devices with a high degree of customer contact and focus, ultimately generating a high degree of customer satisfaction.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•  Identifies new or trending issues, determines root causes, and quickly resolves the issues

•  Acts as a liaison between project and engineering teams and the ultimate customer

•  Coordinates, schedules, and performs the end-work required to implement projects

•  Provides Technology Café Associate support

•  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED:

•  Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience

•  Experience: Required: 5+ years

•  Bachelor’s Degree
