Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy Inc. seeks an attorney to join the Compliance and Ethics team providing legal support for NextEra on cybersecurity, data privacy and related compliance matters. This role requires experience with cybersecurity and data privacy laws and regulations, incident response, contract drafting, building out a compliance program, and reviewing and assessing legal and compliance risks that relate to cybersecurity and data privacy. The successful candidate will have excellent skills in the areas described above, a commitment to develop a deep understanding of NextEra’s business, and have an ability to guide clients with clear, practical advice in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for one who is collaborative, flexible, self-motivated, curious, creative, and clear communicator (both written and verbal).
The Ideal Candidate Would Have The Following:
- 10+ years practing law, with 5+ years practicing law in the field of cybersecurity and data privacy, preferably with a top law firm or as in-house counsel for a major corporation
- Experience with law and regulations applicable to the US electric utility industry or critical infrastructure industries.

• Provides written and oral legal advice to clients
• Anticipates and guards against legal risks involving the organization
• Works to ensure budget compliance and avoids the need for outside counsel
• Ensures disclosure of potentially material legal issues to senior leadership
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Member in Good Standing of State Bar
• High School Grad / GED
• Juris Doctorate
• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience:5+ years
