Position Specific Description

Under direction of the Executive Director, the Regulatory Analyst is responsible for helping manage NextEra’s engagement in legislative and regulatory proceedings and initiatives in the South Region. Ensures regulatory and legislative decisions recognize NextEra’s efforts to generation and transmission solutions that pave the way towards a carbon-free future. This role will focus on state regulators, industry partners, trade groups, and legislative relationships, and you will be able to utilize your previous relationships and decision making to personally affect our success. Works closely with other business units (business management and development) on various projects. Works with consultants and internal teams to perform analysis on existing and proposed laws and regulations. In addition, serves as regulatory and legislative affairs liaison to internal teams. This position will also be responsible for reporting and tracking on priority legislation and regulatory dockets.

 

This role will be traveling occasionally across the South Region, up to 25% at times. While there will be travel, this position will be located in Juno Beach, FL. Individuals that have been most successful in this role typically have a background working in team environments to resolve complex problems such as experience or study of the electric utility industry or regulatory processes, law, and policy. These type of backgrounds will allow you to better interpret the laws, as well potentially influence legislation. Job Overview

Employees in this role participate in all activities relating to government compliance. Individuals maintain the organization's ongoing relationships with regulatory commissions/authorities. This positon is responsible for coordinating regulatory filings and proceedings including but not limited to: planning docket team, developing project timelines, reviewing petition and testimony, managing discovery, summarizing key milestones and attending hearings.

  • Coordinates regulatory filings and proceedings
  • Leads and plans docket team meetings, develops project timelines, reviews petitions and testimony, manages discovery, summarizes key milestones, and attends hearings
  • Summarizes and reports on changes in complex rates regulations and any expected impacts on the Company
  • Monitors state and national regulatory proceedings and provides timely summaries to leadership
  • Masters standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the state’s regulatory proceedings
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 2+ years
